RAL colours for containers

Galvanised containers can be oven-painted with electrostatic powder in any RAL shade. Pick a shade to see it on a container.

Any RAL shade is possible. The shades here are common choices; the full fan is at ralcolorchart.com.

Chosen shade: RAL 7016

Painting for a small or low container, up to 1 m₪470
Painting for a medium tall container, up to 1.2 m₪510
Painting for a large tall container, over 1.2 m₪590

Screen colours are indicative only. Every shade is confirmed in advance with the paint shop, since not every colour is in stock at any given time.

Powder coating

Galvanised iron containers can be oven-painted by powder coating: the containers go into a very large industrial oven, in which the paint is fixed to the container by static electricity.

Usually a powder containing metal components is used; it is given an electric charge by electrodes, clings to the container and is baked in the oven until it hardens.

Powder coating is inexpensive compared with hand painting, very durable in the weather and even in appearance.

In addition, many of our customers choose a RAL colour that already appears in other elements of the space. The advantage of powder coating is that RAL shades are uniform at every coating plant; only the percentage of matt and gloss in the paint needs to be confirmed in advance.

Corten containers can also be powder coated with a clear lacquer. However, this stops the rusting, fixes the colour of the corten and seals it. There is also a chance that after some years the lacquer will begin to peel from the corten.

What do you do if the paint is scratched?

If the container is knocked or scratched, it is very easy to repair: sand lightly, dry well and spray with matching spray paint. Montana and 2X have a wide range of colours, in specialist shops or to order online.

And if I chose a RAL shade that the shops do not stock?

The plant that does the coating can make up a spray can in the specific colour of your containers. A refill can should be ordered from us in advance.

Can ornamental ponds and water elements be painted too?

Powder coating is very durable outdoors. However, standing water, as in an ornamental pond, will exploit every scratch or bubble in the paint and reach the metal.

Bubbles and peeling will appear very quickly. We do not recommend powder coating for ornamental ponds or for elements that stand in water. Likewise, containers without feet that stand directly on soil or paving will be damaged and peel sooner than corten containers or containers that are raised.
