The Old Man and the Sea restaurant, Jaffa

At the height of summer 2020, when a second lockdown and an expected collapse of the restaurant trade were already being talked about, the Old Man and the Sea decided to think ahead and to believe that places to go out would soon be full of life and people again.
On Jaffa port, two striking seating corners were set up, enclosed by silver and yellow planters: one for a fast-food area and the other for a hookah area.
Working with the Old Man and the Sea at a time so full of uncertainty was inspiring: we met business owners who believed things would get better. Careful thought also went into the choice of plants. When choosing plants beside the sea you have to think about salt in the air, strong sun and wind, and choose plants that will stand up to all of these.
In addition, because the containers are very wide, the permanent planting could be planned to suit the seasons, with no need for significant replacement beyond seasonal flowers that can be changed every six months.
